LIAONING UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (LUT)

Founded in 1951, Liaoning University of Technology (LUT) is a provincial university of higher learning. It is a multifaceted university with engineering as its specialty, as well as offering instruction in science, liberal arts, economics, and management studies. Presently it serves over 14,000 undergraduates and 578 postgraduates.

LUT has 21 colleges and faculties. 47 undergraduate specialties and 44 post-graduate specialties are offered, which includes 7 first level master degrees and 37 second class master degrees covering 9 fields of authorized Engineering master degree, 13 higher vocational college specialties. LUT has 3 national key laboratories, provincial key laboratories, 5 central and local co-founded laboratories of preponderant discipline and 2 provincial research centers of engineering technology.

The School of International Education at LUT is in charge of international cooperation, recruitment and management of international students. LUT has carried out international exchange and cooperation since 1985. In recent years, the university has established numerous exchange programs with more than 20 foreign universities. LUT sends students to the USA, Germany, UK, Korea, Singapore, Japan and Australia. So far, we have had students from the US, Korea, Japan, Slovenia, and Pakistan. Our Chinese Training Centre offers free Chinese lessons for all degree students. In order to give students a broader knowledge about Chinese culture, we also arrange classes like Kung Fu, Calligraphy, and Traditional Chinese Musical Instruments.

Liaoning is the southernmost part of Manchuria, the Chinese Northeast. It is also known in Chinese as “the Golden Triangle” from its shape and strategic location, with the Yellow Sea (Korea Bay and Bohai Sea) in the south, North Korea’s North Pyongyang and Chaoyang provinces in the southeast,

Jilin to the northeast, Hebei to the southwest, and Inner Mongolia to the northwest. The Yalu River marks its border with North Korea, emptying into the Korea Bay between Dandong in Liaoning and Sinuiju in North Korea.

It is the world’s 2nd largest state by land area.China is a great power and a major regional power within Asia, and has been characterised as a potential superpower. Since the introduction of economic reforms in 1978, China has become one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.  As of 2016, it is the world’s 2nd largest economy by nominal GDP and largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). China is also the world’s largest exporter and 2nd largest importer of goods. The PRC is a member of the United Nations, as it replaced the ROC as a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council in 1971. China is also a member of numerous formal and informal multilateral organisations, including the WTO, APEC, BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the BCIM and the G-20.
