Teach fashion, teach art, teach designe
Is it possible to teach fashion? That was the question that Giulio Marangoni, famous for his clothes, which were already being worn by the Italian aristocracy, asked himself in 1935. To answer this question, he founded the Istituto Artistico dell’Abbigliamento Marangoni, or the Marangoni Artistic Clothing Institute in Milan. It was a school to train professionals and technicians specializing in the field of fashion. Istituto Marangoni has never stopped believing in the value of training, constantly updating its programmes to ensure they are in line with Italian and international market needs. In the past few years, Istituto Marangoni has opened four new schools: London in 2003, Paris in 2006, Shanghai in 2013, and Milano Design in 2014 Istituto Marangoni now opened the new School of Fashion, Art & Design in Florence on September 2016 and recently in Shenzhen (2016), Mumbai (2017) and Miami (2018), the international capitals of fashion, design and luxury. With a wide range of course possibilities, preparatory, three-year undergraduate and master’s courses, Istituto Marangoni has always maintained the goal of training the professionals of tomorrow in key sectors, such as design, communication and managerial coordination.
THE FASHION SCHOOL
Istituto Marangoni is the international fashion school par excellence, with four Schools in the most prestigious venues of international fashion. In Milan, the capital of Made in Italy, in Florence, where fashion, art and tradition meet, in Paris, the home of haute couture, in London, where trends are born and in Shanghai, where fashion is the future, Istituto Marangoni is able to offer different visions of the contemporary fashion system to its students.
THE ART SCHOOL
The new School of Art brings together, in one prestigious site, all the disciplines taught by Istituto Marangoni. The school is located in a historical building in via de’ Tornabuoni 17, in the core of the city, just a few steps away from Piazza S.Trinità and the museums of Gucci and Ferragamo. In addition to a range of long and short courses in fashion and design, the new Firenze school provides an intense programme of studies dedicated to art and encompassing History of Art, Art ‘Management’ and Visual Multimedia Art.
The Florentine school is on the one hand characterised by the support of professors who are both professionals and highly specialised technicians in the ‘art of making’, and on the other by collaboration with an important French institution in the field of art teaching, the renowned Atelier de Sèvres (for Art courses). This completes the school’s innovative and prestigious profile.
Firenze, the destination of many international young people, has become the new cradle of Istituto Marangoni for art, its aim to educate the excellent professionals of tomorrow to transform the past into the future.
The Schools of Design in Milan and London
Istituto Marangoni offers the best undergraduate and postgraduate training courses in Milano and London, in the areas of interior design, industrial design and visual design. In addition to finding appropriate tools to interpret and guide trends by means of constantly updated study programmes, students have at their disposal laboratories and libraries, classrooms with Macs, free work spaces and cosy cafés, meeting points to get to know each other and share new ideas.
